Hells Gate - A Wasteland Kings Mod
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a small little mod made by one dude, me, for the original Mojam game-jam back in 2013. Because of the primitive base this mod is jumping up from it will seem a little basic but I promise in time this will become something new in of its own.
Currently the game has a few new features from the Wasteland Kings prototype. Including a replacement for the 3 old areas (Desert,Sewers and Scrapyard) called Labs, Old Labs, Purgatory and the Boneyard which have some new enemies in them. We also have 7 new mutations which feature all new icons/art for you to enjoy. There's also a host of new weapons with 3 new kinds of shot called Bouncer (re-added to the game) , Nail (low damage high peircing shots) and thin melle which is found in the eleusive Power Hatchet weapon. Not only that but there's a new ammo type known as Hellfire which has charging shots that create an enemy-damaging expolsion upon contact.
There's also the main change in the game, the new characters. As of Update 6 there are no original characters found within Nuclear throne with 6 new characters added to the roster. There characters are Commando (who receives more ammo and can dash), Crawler (who's both fast and able to teleport), Dammed (a weaker character who does more damage and can shoot a massively powerful shot) and well as Cultist (Who can eat corpses for a chance at an item and has levels spawn earlier), Freak (who creates gas) and Flesh (who has more health/health drops and can create enemy-blocking walls).
Obviously due to the primitive nature of both the mod and the build of Nuclear Throne it was based on bugs will occur. So if you encounter a bug either post on one of the reddit threads found on either /r/NuclearThrone or /r/ntmods or notify me in the itch.io comment thread. While I do try to release weekly my limited skils will mean that weekly updates are something I can't promise. - Fixed a long-runing bug where toxins could plow through your health
- Removed the hotfix where a scientist would spawn on you every level
- Power Hatchet Does more damage
- Fixed a short-runnig bug that caused fire to plow through your HP
- Third Eye now gets rid of all darkness
- OK I ACTUALLY FIGURED OUT WHY EXPLOSIONS ARE OP
- SpikeTraps can be killed
- Added more stuff to the hud
- Walls in Purgatory are different to floor
- Fixed Back Muscle
- Fixed Commandos Heavenly Spirit
- Hell Levels Now have different backgrounds
- Fixed some errors with sprite sources, it makes the game look way better/smoother

- Fixed the harambe menu meme
- Changed the menu music
- Changed the death screen stats
NOTE, THIS GAME IS NO LONGER UNDER DEVELOPMENT, I'VE MOVED ON TO OTHER PROJECTS BUT WILL HOPEFULLY REVISIT THESE LOVELY DEMONS AGAIN

hey, if this isn't much of a bother, i would like to ask about how you modded the game, i've been wanting to mod wasteland kings for a while, but i never found a way to mod it
No problem, I had found a copy of the Wasteland Kings source files for GameMaker Studio online - I cannot remember the link itself but it should be easy to find through google. Regrettably GameMaker Studio is no longer available, only its sequel, so I can't help you with porting GMS to GMSTwo. Feel free to look at the Nuclear Throne discord for modding help (but they almost entirely deal with NTT modding, Wasteland Kings mods are quite antiquated).

Been a while since any comments made here lol. Sadly there have been no updates for a while as I've lost interest in the project.
I do have a LudumDare submission Drill Destruction, but I doubt you'll be able to produce a full video on that as it is rather small (but difficult!).

Until- well, whoever you have working on music is finished, could you put in an options screen on the menu, or at least toggle effects/music buttons?
How do i can change crosshair size?
The main menu music has this weird screeching noise like nails on a chalk board, it is really annoying.
Yea we did fix that in u6.1, so it's okay now
Why is there dicks out for harambe sound file in the game files
1) how do you see my game files, it's just an .exe

hey Bob do you use your own music? or do you take it from wasteland kings because in the third area the music seems different
While the current areas use the OG wasteland kings music for those three areas I have my own guy working on some wonderful tunes for the next updates area.
we can help you publish this on Steam.that's a fantastic game and it's almost ready
Did you use my demon sprite for the demon enemy?
While slightly modified I did in fact use the sprite as a base for the enemy.

On the loading screen it sometimes says "fish can roll" even though you removed fish :O pls fix this is gamebreaking
So do you have any ideas how the Hell's Gate boss will work? If not I have got some pretty good ideas!
nah not really, I'm open to ideas though! :)
So I think it should be a stationary boss like "Big Machine" from the ultra mod and it should have these living bear traps that are on chains that are chained to the wall and act like chain chomps from the Mario series! I might even try and sprite them for you if you want? :)

No, not yet but much like Nuclear Throne (where the Nuclear Throne only existed after update #31) it is to be added eventually.
Too bad a mac version is impossible to make.
Yea, GM is still new to me, I hope to bring it to Mac as well in the future.
